Zhi and Jun hired me to photograph their courthouse elopement in State College, PA, – home of Penn State University. I have never photographed an elopement. It was the judge, bride, groom, and me. No one else. Realizing that I was the only “extra” person present, witnessing and documenting the union of two people felt like such a gift. Having only met them a few minutes before their ceremony, it still felt like such an honor. The emotions were still amazing. The love was still totally undeniable. The meaning was all there. The only thing missing? All of the hoopla and spectators.
Can you tell, I’m hooked? Totally.
After they made it official, we walked around the very empty, snow covered Penn State campus together and took photos at their favorite spots. I LOVED getting to know them and learning about their connection to Penn State. They have a beautiful chemistry and they made me feel like we were old friends. Since it was a very chilly 17 degrees, we decided to meet up once more over the weekend to take some more photos at the Arboretum. It was so nice getting to see them again and just like our first meeting, the shoot was easy and relaxed.
Zhi and Jun, Congratulations!! And thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your day to document your union at your alma mater!
