Terry and Alexa are Married!

Terry and Alexa had an amazing wedding day at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden in March.  Despite having photographed a couple of elopements this year, this was my first BIG wedding of the year.  Little did I know, this may end up being one of my only BIG weddings for a while so the significance of their wedding day just keeps growing and growing as this pandemic and resulting Stay-at-Home orders continue.

Their wedding day was filled with love.  Alexa and Terry’s friends adore them SO much.  The lighthearted banter, the dancing, the embraces… and the undeniable support provided such a beautiful energy for a wedding day. Everyone there knew these two were meant to be, without question,  Terry and Alexa included.  The entire day was joyful and sincere.

When I was driving home, after the wedding, reflecting on the day, there were so many things that stood out as unique about the experience.  (In case you are new here, I really LOVE when couple’s follow their hearts and do things they way they want to and not necessarily the way everyone expects.)  First of all, Alexa and Terry are two extraordinarily considerate humans and they spoiled all their vendors.  When I arrived at the hotel where the ladies were prepping, Alexa greeted me with the sweetest bag of personalized goodies.  Throughout the day, I noticed these little details where they paid extra attention to those around them, ensuring that every person in attendance knew just how grateful this amazing couple was for them.

My favorite portion of the day was when Alexa was getting ready and her beloved mom and stepmom (obviously dear friends) helped get her ready.  When it was time to walk down the aisle, Alexa’s mom and stepmom walked together, hand in hand.  And when Alexa was coming down the aisle, she was escorted by both her dad and stepdad.   I think most people out there can appreciate what a beautiful and unusual sight this was.  After her dads walked her down the aisle, her mother (who is also her best friend) stood up to give her away.  And if there was a person in the crowd not crying by then, this moment surely put them over the edge.  Their relationship is one that every mother hopes to have with their daughter and vice versa and it was so evident in that moment as they stood there together.

The entire day was dreamy as they are when two incredible humans are getting married.
I am so grateful to have gotten to meet these two and be by their sides on one of the biggest days of their lives.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Gettings!
