Jacob and Karla are Engaged!

The moment I read Karla’s email to me, I could feel the excitement she felt about her recent engagement to Jacob.  I was immediately ecstatic about getting to capture this amazing milestone for them.  When we met, they warned me that they don’t take a lot of photos.  After the session, looking through the photos, I chuckled to myself… despite not being terribly comfortable in front of the camera, their chemistry and joy took over.  And, I mean, look at them.  They are gorgeous.

From playing in a stream to dancing in a field, they were up for anything.  I left this shoot SO energized and just so inspired by their love and connection.
They were kind enough to fill out my “Love Story” survey about how they met and how they got to this point in their lives.  So for those hopeless romantics, here you go:

How did you and your fiance first meet?

We were both affiliated with a group that helped international students learn academic English at the University of Florida. We attended a social night at a coffee shop, and after a few board games together, I knew that her competitive spirit and sly smile were for me.

Did you “click” right away?

Yes, we started dating after our second time seeing each other and have been inseparable ever since, even across two moves and a couple of periods of long-distance.

How long did you date before you got engaged?

5 years

Was the proposal a surprise?

Somewhat

How did the proposal happen?

We collaborated together over the course of about a month, going to ring fittings and finding out exactly what she wanted in a ring. Then, I custom ordered a ring from St. Louis, Missouri from the same jeweler that my parents got their rings from. When it arrived in the mail, I asked her if she wanted to see it, and the ring has not left her finger since.

When / Where is your wedding day?

The pandemic will decide that haha.

What are you most excited about your big day?
To be together “officially” and to celebrate with those closest to us.
